“red-eye”
(adjective or noun) A plane, train or bus trip that only travels during the night.
A “red-eye” trip usually begins very late at night (after the sun has gone down), and ends early the next morning. The term “red-eye” refers to what your eyes look like after not sleeping all night!
| Examples:
I don’t enjoy taking red-eye flights because I never seem to get a good night’s sleep.
I will have to catch the red-eye to London tonight if I’m going to be able to make it to the meeting tomorrow at noon. |
