“get (something) off the ground”
(adjective) Succeed or make progress (usually in one’s career or in society), grow stronger. (synonym) prosper, thrive, flourish, advance
“Get off the ground” is a metaphor. Think of an airplane lifting up off the ground–this is where this idiom came from.
