“cut off”

“cut off / cut (someone or something) off”

(verb) To interrupt or block suddenly.

Examples:

The office manager cut me off as I was trying to explain why I was late.

While driving down the street, I was cut off by a big truck—when it pulled in front of me I had to slow down.
